Amethyst is a cut Unreal map by Eric Reuter.

Overview[]

This map would have likely take place right before or (less likely) after Jeremy War's sky maps.

Trivia[]

  • This map may possibly be symbolically depicted on texture Sspirmu1 in the SkyCity.utx package. That texture seems to depict what eventually became the process of calling the sky lift in the Sunspire, but it looks quite different. Interestingly, this texture didn't even end up being used in the regular game – only in some DM maps.
  • This is the last map Reuter contributed to the game, and like the others, it's considered lost work. It is also possible that the March Unreal version has parts of this map re-used for the original Mountain Fortress level before it was changed/redesigned in April into Outpost 3J. After all, Eric still received additional design credit, despite none of his maps being in it, so it's easy to assume some brushes and material were re-used.
