DM-CUT_DM4 is a Deathmatch map for the Unreal Tournament mod Chaos: UT. It's part of the Beta 4 Mappack.

Map description

This map is composed of four separate arenas connected by teleporters. The arenas themselves share the same idea: being walkable platforms in outer space. None of the arenas are visible between each other.

• Arena 1 is located at the far north of the map. Its feature is a platform in the top level called Camper's Heaven, isolated from the rest of the level, and can be reached by using the Utility Gun, the Translocator or the Grappling Hook. It contains the following teleporters:
  • 1: To Teleporter 5 in Arena 2, located in the middle point of the arena, between the ramps.
  • 2: To Teleporter 8 in Arena 3, located in the northwest platform of the lower level.
• Arena 2 is located south of Arena 1 and north of Arena 3. Its recognizable features are a crossroads at the top level, a large platform at north, and an isolated platform at the very bottom where powerful items reside. It contains the following teleporters:
  • 3: To Teleporter 9 in Arena 4, located south of the crossroads.
  • 4: To Teleporter 7 in Arena 3, located north of the crossroads.
  • 5: To Teleporter 1 in Arena 1, located mid level, east.
  • 6: To Teleporter 5, located in the isolated platform.
• Arena 3 is located south of Arena 2 and north of Arena 4. It's a four-tier multi-level arena recognizable for the Chaos: UT billboard. It contains the following teleporters:
  • 7: To Teleporter 4 in Arena 2, located between the two ramps from mid-upper to mid-lower.
  • 8: To Teleporter 2 in Arena 1, located at the mid-lower level, northeast corner.
• Arena 4 is located south of Arena 3. It's a three-level arena whose main feature is a big low level platform with two arches. It contains the following teleporters:
  • 9: To Teleporter 3 in Arena 2, located at the upper level, overlooking the arena.
  • 10: To Teleporter 7 in Arena 3, located in the mid level, northwest corner.

Tips and tricks

• The map has certain places that can only be reached with the Translocator, the Super Jump Boots, the Utility Gun in Air Mode, or the Grappling Hook:
  • The Camper's Heaven in Arena 1.
  • The Translocator in Arena 4.
  • Getting out of the floating platform in Arena 2 without using the nearby teleporter.
• There's only one teleporter leading into Arena 4. You might be forgiven to think the arena doesn't exist.
• As a very open map with narrow catwalks, weapons with high splash recoil can be dominating.

Trivia

• The map is a remake of a popular map from the original Chaos mod for Quake II called "Jump" (ChaosDM4).
