The subject of this article appeared in Unreal Tournament.

DM-Chronos is a Deathmatch map from Unreal Tournament. It's the pre-order bonus for the BestBuy version of the Game of the Year edition, as well as an Ownage map.

A burnt-out factory using DM-Shrapnel]['s theme. While the map doesn't have named areas, it does have instead a zone division. We'll give each of these zones a name, for description purposes:

  • Northern cargo corridor (Blue): Recognizable by its five cargo boxes pilled up, this is a two-story room. Located north of the map.
  • Hub Hall (Pale Green): A series of corridors connecting almost every area in the map.
  • Machine Room (Dark Green): Located below the Hub Hall, a room with machine panels and a water current going through it.
  • Western Corridor (Pink): .
  • Ramp Room (Cyan): .
  • Southern Turn (Green): .
  • Upper Hub (Dark Blue): .
  • Slime Pit Hall (Violet-ish Blue): .
  • Fan Room (Orange): .
  • Eastern Corridor (Red): .

Tips and tricks[]

  • Unlike other UT maps, the map forces you to keep moving in order to stay armed, as no weapon pickups are near their weapons.

"Imagine taking the best parts of DM-Conveyor and DM-Shrapnel and putting them all together into one professional quality, top notch deathmatch map. You'd then have DM-Chronos, which is a fantastic example of top notch mapmaking abilities. I had not heard of "Acidpablo" yet, but when he sent me a link to screenshots of his map I knew he had something really special going on. This map strikes a perfect balance between good looks and playability; the scale is great, the lighting is nice, the texture usage is perfect, and it flows seamlessly.

The ultimate kind of Deathmatch flow is one that avoids the tired "Room, corridor, room" syndrome. Well, if you're looking for an example of a map that does this you'd be hard pressed to find a map that does it better than Chronos."
