DM-KGalleon is a Deathmatch map from Unreal Tournament.
Map description[]
The map takes place on a three-tiered ship in the middle of a dangerous ocean. Falling into the ocean results in instant death, as there is no way to return to the ship. As the ship has no officially named areas, this article will assign names for descriptive purposes:
- The playable outside part of the ship consists of its Beak, the Forecastle, the Shroud, the Half Deck, and the Quarter Deck. The Main Mast is also an important feature of the map, holding a coveted weapon.
- The Forecastle contains a teleporter that leads to the Quarter Deck Barrel Room.
- From the Beak and Shroud, it is possible to enter the Upper Forecastle Chamber, a small room with a platform leading to the second floor.
- The Shroud has an opening that goes all the way to the lower floor.
- Opposite the Shroud and beneath the Half Deck is the Resting Room, which contains a ramp to the Quarter Deck Barrel Room on the second floor. This room is identified by its beds.
- The Half Deck provides access to the Officer Quarters, a more luxurious area with a bed, a desk, and a globe. It also contains a teleporter to the Middle Forecastle Chamber.
- On the second floor, starting from the Upper Forecastle Chamber, players can access the Middle Forecastle Chamber, which connects the Lower Forecastle to the lower deck's Lower Forecastle Chamber via a platform. Additionally, the Shroud Mid Corridor links the Middle Forecastle Chamber to the Half Deck Barrel Room, which is further connected to the Quarter Deck Barrel Room. These rooms contain breakable barrels, although the latter room also features indestructible cargo boxes and a teleporter to the Forecastle. The former room has a platform leading to the Lower Deck Big Cargo Room.
- On the lower deck (exclusive to the PC version), starting from the Forecastle, players can find the Lower Forecastle Chamber, the Lower Deck Cargo room (with three boxes), the Lower Deck Water Barrel room, and the Lower Deck Big Cargo Room, which contains a large stack of boxes and a platform leading to the Quarter Deck Barrel Room.

Playstation 2[]
"The indigenous people of Koos World are waterborne and find there to be no more fitting an arena than this ancient transport galleon."
– Mission description
Tips and tricks[]
- Crammed interiors and an open exterior makes this map dangerous to almost any attack. It is nearly impossible to run away from your adversaries, especially if you are in a tight position, such as having low health or ammo.
- There is a hidden Redeemer in this map. At the mast closest to the front of the boat, where the highest Jump Boots are, shoot the flame above it to call a lift to the crow's nest, where you will find the Redeemer.
- Stick outside most of the time. You can look through holes in the floor at players running below, and nearly every powerup can be acquired from the upper levels.[1]
- PC version only: Learn how to jump into the Shield Belt's barrel without boots.[1]
- Take a trip up to the Crow's Nest if you notice a guided missile roaming about; there is likely an enemy player up there just waiting for you to frag him.[1]
- Look for players heading back to the Rocket Launcher area at the back end of the ship. The dead end is a dangerous place to be. Follow players there and fire upon them with the Flak Cannon or Rocket Launcher.[1]
Trivia[]
- The beta version had a player count of 8, a different central area with a wooden beam and crates connecting the lower and middle floors, and a Sniper Rifle at the top of the mast instead of a Redeemer. The Redeemer is located where the Invisibility powerup is found in the final version.

Design notes[]
"Changing from single player to deathmatch-oriented design was refreshing for the designers, but not without its unique challenges. One issue was the task of balancing the number of "hardcore" maps with "theme" maps. A hardcore map focuses entirely on layout and game play, while the overall style of the map comes second. Theme maps, on the other hand, focus on a unifying idea or look and build from that. For example, the Koos Galleon, designed by Pancho Eekels of Digital Extremes, is a large sailing ship. It's a very beautiful level, but focuses on the theme of being a ship more than being a deathmatch map. The UNREAL TOURNAMENT team decided that mixing the two styles was the best approach."
– Brandon Reinhart[2]
Preview notes[]
"We saw two new deathmatch levels, one which (...) was a huge galley ship complete with below decks areas and a captain's quarters."
– IGN, UT[3]
