DM-Malevolence is a Deathmatch map from Unreal Tournament. It's a default map in the Playstation 2 and Sega Dreamcast versions of the game and the Game of the Year edition of the PC version, and for the retail PC version it can be obtained by installing the Epic Bonus Pack.

Map description[]

A burned out facility in the style of DOM-Cinder. The map contains the following, unnamed areas:

  • Eastern Atrium (Cyan): Another usual fighting area, comprises the eastern sector, including the Armor/Minigun platform. There's a sub-section of the map, the Bio-Rifle Corridor (Violet), that contains the eponymous weapon.
  • Center (Pale Green): The main fighting area of the map, a platform holding the Rocket Launcher as well as the diagonal ramp that overlooks the Eastern Atrium.
  • Northwest Ramps (Green): The area of the map with the wooden ramps and the Flak Cannon.
  • West Corridor (Dark Pink): The corridor that unites the Southwest Corner with the Northwest Ramps as well as the central area via another ramp.
  • Southwest Corner (Blue): The dual-levelled area with the lift. Contains the Damage Amplifier in a small spot.
  • Southern Corridor (Pale Orange): The corridor that unites the Center, Eastern Atrium, and Southwest Corner (its upper level) areas.

Tips and tricks[]

  • If you're low on health and armor, go ASAP to the Armor platform.
  • The weapons are spread in such a way that it forces you to stay armed at all times. Try to figure out the proper path.
  • You can take a lot of shortcuts on the map with proper usage of the Impact Hammer. This allows you to, for example:
    • Reach the upper level of the Southwest Corner without using the lift.
    • Picking up the Flak Cannon in the Northwest Ramps without using the ramps if you're on the lower level.
    • Picking up the Pulse Gun and the Shock and Minigun ammo packs from the Eastern Atrium.
    • Picking up the Sniper Rifle without having to go through the Southern Corridor.

Secret items[]

  • In order to obtain the Damage Amplifier, you either have to do a proper lift jump from the lift or use the Impact Hammer.
