Overview |
DM-Oblivion is a Deathmatch map from Unreal Tournament.
Map description[]
The map takes place inside of a high-speed cruising ship. The Cargo Bay holds several boxes and the Flak Cannon, while the East Wing and West Wing, respectively, hold the Rocket Launcher and some rocket packs; these areas are connected to almost every part of the map except the Passenger area, including themselves with a passage that splits the two areas in the center. Overlooking both wings, the Passenger area is located at the center of the map. Finally, there is the Cockpit, the area holding the Shock Rifle.
Overall, it is a fairly simple map. Fittingly, it is the first map on the Deathmatch ladder for each platform it appears on.

Walkthrough[]
PC (Retail/GOTY)[]
This is your first map from where you must outfrag your opponent to make your way to the top of the ladder. With only one bot to face against, this map can quickly be completed, if you are good at tracking down your opponent.

Tips and tricks[]
- You're given the Shock Rifle, Rocket Launcher and Flak Cannon in this map, but in such small corridors and tight corners, you can actually end up doing more damage to yourself than your opponent if you use the splash damage weapons. Therefore, the Shock Rifle is the preferred weapon for the map: it's the only weapon with which you (mostly) can't hurt yourself; it's found next to both of its ammo packs; it's capable of equal parts offense and defense; and any shock-combo will kill, since there is no armor. It's also the only instant-hit weapon in the map, and therefore it's very important to keep it out of your opponent's hands. The combo shot works well against players hiding out near the Flak Cannon or stuck in the Rocket Launcher alcove.[1][2] Because of the Shock Rifle's importance in the map, the area the weapon is found is one of the more dangerous areas of the level. You'll be easily trapped if you go for this weapon and an easy target for someone with the Rocket Launcher or the Flak Cannon.[3]
- The Flak Cannon is probably the second best weapon for this level, as it does not involve too much up and down. Also, there aren't many health packs in the level, and most are positioned near the Flak Cannon area, so remaining in this area and prevent your opponents from snagging the Flak Cannon is a viable tactic. You can also keep an eye on the Rocket Launcher's location; when you see a player enter the alcove to grab the weapon, advance and let him have a face full of flak.[4][3]
BradyGames Official Guide (PS2)[]
In the main part of the ship you will find some cargo boxes. Inside one of them you'll find the Flak Cannon. This will invariably come in handy as you will often times find your enemies popping around the corner in a tight turn and you won't be able to use a high power explosive like the Rocket Launcher. You may want to keep this one your primary weapon at all times.
In the cargo hold you'll find three exits. The one to the right holds a Rocket Launcher, the one to the left some Rocket Launcher Ammo. There is a small tunnel connecting both these rooms lying underneath the middle exit. This exit simply contains a room with a pillar in it, and two Health Packs, on either side.
In the left and right rooms, you'll find a Health Pack waiting at the top of each ramp. These ramps lead up to a final room that connects all three areas yet again. This room contains the Shock Rifle and some Ammo.
This level is hard to dominate in any way. The two powerful weapons (the Rocket Launcher and Flak Cannon) are separated and their locations contain multiple entry points. Try a roving path containing the locations of the ammunition, the Rocket Launcher and the Flak Cannon in a triangular perimeter and hope to bring your enemies to their knees. Only through denying them the high power weapons and staying frosty will you persevere."
