DM-Pyramid (whose full name is Floating Pyramid) is a map appearing in Unreal Tournament .

Map description Edit

The map takes place on a four-level pyramid floating in space. As its name implies, each of its levels is wider than the one above. For description purposes, this article will refer to these levels, from wider to shorter, as Lower, Middle, Upper, and Top. Connecting the three levels is a zero-gravity invisible field that players can use to travel to the upper levels. This field also reaches below the lower floor, at three specific points, where powerful items are located.

Tips and tricks Edit

  • The lower part of the middle tube, where all the powerups are, is an excellent place to get some free frags or just lower your foes' frag counts.
  • Take time to fire things into the flow in the pyramid's center. Bio Rifle sludge travels upward, and Flak Cannon secondary fire grenades will operate unusually as well. As the area becomes crowded, litter it with toxic sludge from the Bio Rifle.[1]
  • If Translocators are enabled, use it to travel up the pyramid, either after obtaining the power-ups below, or as a quick escape maneuver to the upper levels.[1]
  • Falling off the edge on any floor sends the player into the infinite abyss. Look for opportunities to knock others off; the Shock Rifle and the Rocket Launcher work best.[1]
  • Float to the very top of the pyramid and look down into the center. Wait for players to attempt to float up or down and nail them with the Rocket Launcher or a similar weapon.[1]

Trivia Edit

  • Due to a building error, it is impossible to see or reach the Invisibility item.
  • The mapper actually placed an Unreal Invisibility powerup, which UT replaces with its own.

Author's Notes Edit

"I just wanted to do something weird and brutal, where fight is the only goal of the Level, and where gathering Items is secondary. The Tube in the middle allow you to fly from floor to floor. The Level is oversimplified but the resulting gameplay is interesting. You can go under the basement level to get all the goodies but it's risky since anyone who sees you can send you flying in the sky."
