Overview |
DM-Shrapnel][ is a Deathmatch map from Unreal Tournament. It comes with the Epic Bonus Pack and the Game of the Year edition of the game in PC.
Map description[]
It is an abandoned industrial facility with plenty of areas. The map has five named locations. These locations, along with the colors in which they appear in the editor, are listed below.
- Flak Room (red): The area in the north of the map with the balcony and the stairs. Also comprises two rooms south of this area; these three areas will be referred to as Flak North, Flak Center, and Flak West.
- Hub (blue): The area with a V-shaped ledge with a ramp leading up to it. Also comprises the lower level chamber below the Flak Center and a room located in the northwest with a C-shaped railing and a platform between levels. These areas will be named Center Area, Control Room Chamber, and Northeast Chamber.
- ShieldBelt Room (light red): An area located in the east of the map, with diagonal railings going through it. A platform in this area can be used to reach an Easter egg chamber (see #Trivia).
- Rocket Launcher (green): An area in the south of the room with two stairs and the upper level holding the eponymous weapon.
- East Wing (lime): A misleading name (it is actually located in the west of the map), it is a two-level room (Two-Level Western Room) located below the Flak West area. Also comprises a corridor from the Rocket Launcher area (Rocket-Sniper Chamber), and a Hub (Sniper Hub) uniting this area with the Corridor, the two-leveled room, the Center Area, and the ShieldBelt Room.

Walkthrough[]
PC (GOTY)[]
"Tournament coordinators love burnt out factories, foundries, and warehouses because of the natural height and architectural hazards they provide. With the original name of this burnt-out facility long forgotten, the contestants have morbidly nicknamed this place."

Tips and tricks[]
Secret areas[]
- In the ShieldBelt Room, in front of the platform, above the entrance from the Sniper Hub, there is a fake wall that contains ammo for the Sniper Rifle and Shock Rifle.
Trivia[]
Easter eggs[]
- Main article: Easter eggs
- In the ShieldBelt Room, you can perform a lift jump on the elevator to reach a platform opposite the Shield Belt walkway, upon which is a golden circle "U" medallion.
Location bugs[]
- The "East Wing" is incorrectly named, as it is actually located on the west part of the map. This error was fixed on OldUnreal's v469 patch, however, for previous versions, this can be fixed by creating a new file named "DM-Shrapnel][.int" in the System folder of the game and add the following text:
[ZoneInfo4] ZoneName="West Wing"
Readme notes[]
"This map was originally released in a free Unreal1 map pack by Epic called "Fusion." Cliff Bleszinski has greatly ripped it apart and reworked it so that it is less cramped and plays far better."
