"Simple, flat, and chock full of weapons and ammunition. Perfect for your first humiliation in the Tournament."
– Map description
DM-TrainingDay is a Deathmatch map from Unreal Tournament 2003 and Unreal Tournament 2004. In both games, it's one of the stock maps.
Map description[]
As simple as it gets: a single floor 8-shaped map with two loops and a central area with a hazard. The areas are called Rocket Loop (located at the northeast of the map), Central Hallway (located at the center), and Sniper Loop (located at the southwest of the map).
The Rocket Loop holds the Link Gun and the Minigun, while the Sniper Loop holds the Shock Rifle and the Flak Cannon. Finally, the middle area only holds the most powerful item in the map, which is, of course, the +25 Health Pack.
There's not much to describe, really.

Walkthrough[]
"Simple, flat, and chock full of weapons and ammunition. Perfect for your first humiliation in the Tournament."
– Mission description
Tips and tricks[]
- Don't dodge off the side in the main hallway or you are burnt to a crisp.
- The weapons are distributed evenly: Flak Cannon (for short range) and Shock Rifle (for mid-to-long range) at one loop, and Link Gun (for close-to-mid range) and Minigun (for mid-to-long range) at the other. Same with health: each loop gets three vials and the central area holds a Health Pack.
- Try to stay close to the turn for cover and, unless your enemy is as close as he gets from you, shoot, then retreat, rinse and repeat.
Prima Official Guide[]
"Training Day is a very simple level designed as a quick and dirty tutorial in the art of killing for sport. It has a very basic figure-eight design, with a wide hallway connecting the two narrow loops on either side of the arena.
In one of the loops, you can find the Lighting Gun. In the other, the Rocket Launcher is available for pickup.
You can get the Minigun and Flak Cannon from the central hallway, as well as a Health Pack +25 and several Adrenaline capsules. Watch out for the small gaps in the floor near the loops; falling into one kills you instantly.
The best weapons for this close-quarters level are the Flak Cannon and the Minigun, both of which require you to run out into the open hallway between the two loops. This area is a huge hot spot, as it's the only long straightaway in the level.
The Lightning Gun is a great weapon, but only if you can "fire from the hip" (not use the scope) with great accuracy. You won't have time to line up headshots. Similarly, the Rocket Launcher is as devastating as ever, but its rate of fire is too slow compared to the Minigun and Flak Cannon.
Don't forget about the often-overlooked Shield Gun either. Build up a full charge while hiding in one of the loops, and run straight into an enemy when they come to find you to kill them instantly.
The action is ridiculously fast and furious in Training Day. Stay out of the center of the hallway, duck around corners for cover, and don't stop shooting until the match is over."

Trivia[]
Popularity[]
- Main article: Annex:Unreal Tournament 2004 Final Stats
- Until the stats for the game were shut down, the map held the distinction of being the 27th. most played UT2004 map of all-time, with nearly 95.000 matches.[1]
Location bugs[]
- Although the loops are named "Rocket Loop" and "Sniper Loop", none of these sides feature either the Rocket Launcher or the Lightning Gun. In the Single Player mode of UT2003 the player is introduced to these weapons in the SP mode in the following rung. The error itself can be fixed, by creating a file called "DM-TrainingDay.int" in the System folder with the following content:
[ZoneInfo13]
ZoneName="Northeast Loop"
[ZoneInfo74]
ZoneName="Southwest Loop"
