The Skaarj Gunner is an enemy in Unreal.
Overview[]
A startling cyan in coloration, and wearing slightly less coverage in terms of armor, the Skaarj Gunner is a heavier-set Trooper class that typically wields a deadly Eightball rocket/grenade launcher, making them a significant threat, especially in close quarters. They are the most agressive of the Trooper class of the Skaarj. They have the highest Projectile damage of all Skaarj. However their rockets can be blocked using the ASMD secondary fire. Despite this their exteme accuracy and clever dodging tactics makes them among the deadliest foes.

- The Skaarj Gunner was one of the few classes slated to return from Unreal for the UE1 versions of Unreal II: The Awakening and, in fact, the later Janus maps from the 2000 test versions feature them directly, but mostly wielding Izarian rifles. The plan was, according to the 1999 document, to use higher res versions of the original Skaarj Gunner skin though, so it wouldn't stand out with the other new monsters they were making that used higher res skins and at least two part skins (like some early Unreal versions did and monsters like the Gasbag still do). The issue began when they never seemed to receive the original high res skin, as it was already discarded and there were no easy upscaling algorithms.
