Unreal Tournament 3: The Soundtrack is the official CD release of the Unreal Tournament 3 soundtrack. It was released on.

Overview[]

The soundtrack was composed by Jesper Kyd and Rom Di Prisco.[2] According to UT3's Audio Director Mike Larson, after the more orchestral music of UT2003 and UT2004 it became clear that "an overwhelming majority of users" preferred the original UT music.[3] This, and the wish to make a clear distinction between the UT series and Gears of War led to the decision to return to electronica. Most of the tracks are remixes of original UT tracks, or feature small samples from UT tracks. Some of the music that can be heard in game or on cutscenes is not present in those 2 CDs; they are reported as "Others", which were composed by Kevin Riepl. UT3 features both music in the Ogg Vorbis format as well as dynamic music of an unknown format.

According to IGN, Di Prisco's work in Unreal Tournament 3 was influenced by a variety of electronic music periods and artists, such as Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, William Orbit, Orbital, and Roni Size. The Crystal Method, Kraftwerk and Peter Gabriel were also mentioned as influences on the soundtrack.[4]
