The Unreal universe refers to the insular reality in which the Unreal series takes place including all persons, entities, locations, events, and history. Many of Unreal's central events are set in the 23rd century, with the timeline running into the early 24th century. The humans, who have created colonizations throughout the galaxy, are invaded by a hostile alliance of aliens known as the Skaarj who, motivated by their goal to conquer the universe, are bent on humanity's destruction.
