There's an old saying, all things must come to an end. And so is mine, at the front of this Wiki. In all reality, I'm cutting my ties with anything related to Unreal, not because of that crap of "I grew out of playing videogames", because I think that's pure bullshit, there's no age for either playing videogames or stop playing them.
Rather, I grew up tired of toxic gaming communities. And the overall, constant drama. This is going to be quite a stream of thoughts, I don't intend to modify a single coma, as I write this from the bottom of my being. Also, the Unreal community isn't the only community I'm leaving, I've already left other communities such as the Pokémon community as well.
I never made a secret about how I feel about this omnipresent, omniscient entity that calls itself "the community" and those who claim to speak on the behalf of a fanbase that's WAY more heterogeneous than the self-proclaimed "community representatives/spokespersons" want it to be seen as (you know, those who use the "Royal We" when they speak, as if they were chosen by popular vote to speak on their behalf). The whole idea that Epic must redo the same damn game over and over and over and over and over again until the end of time because its most vocal part demands so. And these days it became even worse ever since Epic's big shutdown of the Unreal series. Now, don't get me wrong, Epic Games deserves every single bit of scorn and hate for each of its shady practices and questionable antics (especially when it comes to the EGS and Fortnite). But it's quite hard to sympathise with a "community" that was always ready to reject anything related to the Unreal series that isn't "REMAEK MY FAVRITE GAEM WITH BETTER GRAFIX OR D1E!!!1!11!11!11!11!1!!1!11". These days it became a mix of hatedom, echo chamber and self-indulgence circle; it was quite like that before Fortnite existed (let alone before Epic decided to pull the plug on the series), but now it's defo worse. I just don't fit into this anymore, nor have patience or will to tolerate this any longer. It even ruined my enjoyment of the games themselves. Games that I liked and enjoyed on their own merits (as all games must be judged). And it sucks. Maybe in the future I may play them again, but I'm not going to rejoin any community.
A big shout-out to OldUnreal, because, seriously, the work Smirf, Dots, Anth, Buggie, and those who cared to help did is beyond titanic, even though I may not agree with some decisions (I particularly don't agree with OS deprecation, for example). They deserve more praise than they get, as criticism always seems to surpass the praise. I don't really have enough praise or congratulations for them; I feel quite privileged to have helped in the areas I could help. Another big shout-out to Amp, who gave me the chance to make this Wiki as great and awesome as I hope it became. I made mistakes, surely, but I put my best and tried to make it the better Unreal-related Wiki. I don't have enough thank yous to you too, Amp.
Nevertheless, I'll end this here. See you... wherever our paths cross again.
EDIT: Prior to leaving, I've moved the localization repository for the OldUnreal patches to the place it actually belongs, so the new URL for said repository is https://github.com/OldUnreal/unreal-localization. The original localization repository was archived.
